Tableau Cloud Provisioning "Error in object 'appUser': codes invalidValueTypeForProperty.appUser, invalidValueTypeForProperty"
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

Admins may encounter the following error message when provisioning via Tableau Cloud:

Error setting property, appUser=<value> property=siteRoles error=[Error in object 'appUser': codes [invalidValueTypeForProperty.appUser, invalidValueTypeForProperty] ; arguments [siteRoles]; default message [Unsupported data type value for given key]]

Tableau App assignment error

Applies To
  • Tableau Cloud
  • Okta Integration Network
  • Provisioning
Cause

This is normally caused by an older or outdated Tableau Cloud app schema found in the Okta Profile Editor for the problematic Tableau Cloud app instance.

An observed symptom is that, when checking under Okta Admin Console > Profile Editor > Tableau Cloud app > clicking the blue info icon to view the siteRoles attribute details page, the enumerated string array data siteRole field's Allowed values configuration does not include Unlicensed as an allowed value.

Solution
  1. Please contact the Okta Support team and request an app schema version check for the Tableau Cloud app to ensure the latest version is applied to the Okta org and the problematic Tableau Cloud app.
  2. As necessary, follow the guidance from the Okta Support Engineer to address the previously failed Tableau de-provisioning tasks.
