Hide an Application Icon from the Okta End-User Dashboard
Last Updated:
Overview
This article explains how to manage application visibility settings and provides instructions for hiding a specific application icon from the end-user dashboard. It addresses situations where an application is assigned to users, but the application icon should not be displayed in the Okta Dashboard.
Applies To
- Applications
- Okta Dashboard
- Okta Admin Console
Cause
The visibility of the Applications in Okta cannot be configured to be visible only for a subset of users. If there are no assignment errors in the Task for users, the Application will be visible in the Okta Dashboard.
Solution
The application visibility setting allows administrators to control whether an application icon appears on the end-user dashboard. Currently, the visibility of an application cannot be configured to be visible for only a subset of assigned users. The option to hide the application icon applies globally to all users assigned to that specific application.
To hide an application from specific users without modifying the primary application assignment, configure a secondary bookmark application as a workaround. Review Control Application Visibility for Specific Users for detailed configuration steps.
To hide an application icon from all assigned users, perform the following steps:
-
Sign in to the Okta Admin Console.
-
Choose Applications > Applications from the navigation menu.
-
Select the app integration.
-
Select the General tab.
-
Select Edit in the App Settings section.
-
Select the Do not display application icon to users checkbox under the Application visibility section.
-
Select Save.
