Paylocity Provisioning Guide
Okta Integration Network
Overview
This article is a general overview of adding SCIM provisioning to the Paylocity application in Okta.

The Paylocity app available in the Okta Integration Network uses a provisioning connector to connect Paylocity with Okta. Enabling provisioning and assigning Okta users to the Paylocity app will not push users to the application side.

Applies To
  • Paylocity
  • Provisioning
  • User Lifecycle Management
Cause

Paylocity’s SCIM Implementation is considered an HR-as-master or Inbound Provisioning. This means that Paylocity is the system of record and does not allow creating, updating, or deleting users from the SSO Provider (for example, Okta) to Paylocity.

Solution

Add SCIM provisioning to the Paylocity application

  1. Add the Paylocity application using the OIN catalog in Okta.
  2. Click on the Provisioning tab and then click on Configure API Integration.

"Configure API Integration" button

  1. A window will open with the Paylocity login page. Please enter the SCIM user credentials set in Paylocity’s SSO Configuration. (These are not the typical credentials employed for logging into Paylocity to access employee information.) This should not be required for scheduled automated imports.

Create a SCIM User in Paylocity:

  1. In Paylocity, navigate to HR & Payroll User Access > SSO Configuration.
  2.  Click on SCIM Provisioning.
  3.  Choose Yes under Enable SCIM Provisioning.
  4. Enter a username
    • Usernames must be between 8-20 characters and must not contain any special characters other than _ and.
  5. Enter the password and confirm the password.
  6.  Click Save.
