Paylocity 404 Error When Enabling Provisioning
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

Admins may encounter the following error when enabling provisioning for the application Paylocity:

Okta 404 Page Not Found

Error 404 Page Not Found

Applies To
  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • Provisioning
  • Paylocity
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
Cause

This is a result of trying to authorize the OAuth login with SSO into Paylocity and not with the SCIM User account from the Paylocity side; cookies may affect this interaction, and admins may be re-directed to the SSO page of the application instead of the following page:

Authorize the OAuth login with SSO

Solution

First, if not already done, set up the SCIM User inside of Paylocity by following these steps:

  1. In Paylocity, navigate to HR & Payroll > User Access > SSO Configuration.
  2. Click on SCIM Provisioning.
  3. Choose Yes under Enable SCIM Provisioning.
  4. Enter a username:
    • Usernames must be between 8-20 characters and must not contain any special characters other than "_" and ".".
  5. Enter the password and confirm the password.
  6. Click Save.

On the Okta side, ensure that the Paylocity Entity and Paylocity Partner Entity fields are configured by following the below steps:

  1. Under the Sign On or Authentication tab, click EditAdvanced Sign-On Settings, and enter the Paylocity Entity (the Company ID) and P800002 in the corresponding Paylocity Partner Entity fields.

  1. Next, there are two options if the 404 page is still occurring:
    1. Enable the API integration with Incognito Mode or Private Browsing, which has no session cookies. Then, paste the SCIM User's credentials in the OAuth login to complete the authentication.
    2. Delete the cookies from the web browser and attempt to authenticate again.
