    Overview

An administrator can lose access to an Okta Integrator or Developer account when the authentication device is unavailable. Recovery depends on self-service configuration, account type, or creating a new account with a different email address. An administrator attempts to sign in to an Okta Integrator account but cannot authenticate due to a lost or broken device. Attempting to sign up for a new account with the same email address results in the following error message:

An Okta Integrator Free Plan org already exists for the email provided

    Applies To

    • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
    • Okta Classic Engine
    • Okta Developer Edition
    • Okta Integrator Account

    Cause

The administrator loses or breaks the authentication device used for Okta Verify, and the organization lacks alternative authentication methods or backup administrators. Okta prevents creating a new account with the same email address because the original organization still exists.

    Solution

What are the recovery options for a free Okta Integrator account?

Administrators can only recover free trial, developer, and integrator accounts via self-service if the organization has configured the appropriate policies and backup accounts. Review the Recovery Steps In Case Of Developer Edition Org Admin Account Lockout Post MFA Enforcement article for potential self-service recovery methods.

Support options for Independent Software Vendors and paid accounts.

Administrators with paid accounts or published applications can explore the following support options to regain access.

How is a new account created when recovery is unavailable?

If no paid developer or production account is available and self-service recovery fails, the only option is to sign up for a new free trial or integrator account using a different email address.

Can an inaccessible Okta Integrator organization be deleted to reuse the email address?

Deleting a free plan organization to reuse the email address is not an option. Free trial and integrator organizations fall outside the scope of support. Okta automatically deactivates trial organizations once the trial period elapses. Integrator organizations do not expire, but Okta automatically deactivates them after 180 days of inactivity unless the administrator submits an application to the OIN. Review the Organization Defaults documentation for more details.

Administrators can submit a request for data deletion for privacy reasons via the Okta Privacy Preferences form.

NOTE: A separate team handles this process, and it is not intended for email address reuse.

    Summary

Recover an Okta Integrator account using self-service options, contact support for paid accounts, or create a new account with a different email address.

    Regards.

Hi @BarathM.36850 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Please note that free trial/developer/integrator accounts are only recoverable via self-service provided that you have configured the appropriate policies and backup accounts.  You can also review the recovery process mentioned in this article, perhaps the method mentioned at step 2 might be an option.

We strongly recommend configuring test users and groups to be used in conjunction with enrollment/authentication policies that would not apply to your admin accounts.

Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who have published applications in the OIN can send an email to developers@okta.com with the subject: "ISV - <issue description>" .

If you have a paid production/developer account with us, please leverage it to open a case via the support.okta.com site or call the support line at the numbers listed in this article (Customer Support Account ID number required) so our Okta Support colleagues can review the matter. If for whatever reason those options are not available for you, please contact your Okta Account Executive or Customer Success Manager, and they will be able to engage the Support team on your behalf.

If no paid developer or production account is available,  the only option left is to sign up for a new free trial or integrator account with a new email and leverage those for testing.

Beyond that, engaging our Okta Sales team to discuss the matter of acquiring Okta Support services would be the only option as it is unfortunately completely outside of the Okta Community Team's scope.

    Regards.
