I'm also waiting for this feature to be available.

Any update on this? I was fully expecting the AD profile picture to be included in a default sync, or at least the ability to map that AD attribute to import to Okta and push to O365 just like any other AD attribute for users.

Hi, also checking in to see if theres any timeline on this hitting general release? I saw a beta was going on for it.

    Thanks.

We in the middle of rolling office 365 and Okta out to one of our major customers and this would be huge. We have pictures of everyone, but Okta doesn't have the ability to sync them. Can we push this to the top of the list please!

Now that I am a little better with Okta I have been able to add attributes to the Okta profile and map AD attributes to Okta and then the Okta attribute to O365.  Both AD and O365 has the thumbnailPhoto attribute, but this is not in Okta.  You should be albe to create the same attribute in your Okta profile then sync AD to Okta and then Okta to O365.

One thing I did notice is that when I started to map additional attributes, O365 no longer allowed me to use O365 or the Outlook or Skype for Business clients to update things that were synced from AD.  I would imagine that if you do start to sync your thumbnailPhoto attribute, then the users will not be able to use O365 to update their photo themselves.

  • A little late to the game here, but we're just starting to look into syncing more than first/last/username/displayname to O365. Jordan, you said, "I would imagine that if you do start to sync your thumbnailPhoto attribute, then the users will not be able to use O365 to update their photo themselves." - did you end up syncing thumbnailPhoto and if so did O365 stop your users from updating the photo themselves via O365?
