Provisioning to DocuSign Keeps Reverting Username Value for User
Single Sign-On
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Overview

This article addresses an issue encountered during user assignment to the DocuSign application in Okta. Despite the Okta username format being set to Okta Username, the system assigns the username as the user's first and last name.

Applies To
  • DocuSign SAML application
  • Singe Sign-On
  • Okta Classic Engine
Cause

This issue arises when an import trigger updates the username. Events labeled as "Import user profile triggered by import process" can be seen in the Okta system log, indicating the source of this problem.

Solution

To rectify this issue, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Navigate to the Provisioning tab in DocuSign.
  2. Under To Okta, set the Okta username format for DocuSign to custom appuser.email.
  3. Save the configuration changes.
  4. Unassign the affected users and then reassign them.

NOTE: For these changes to take effect, the import may need to be run from DocuSign to Okta after executing them.

This resolution prevents the system from automatically updating the username to the user's first and last name, maintaining it in the "Okta Username" format.
