Overview
Administrators manage Microsoft Office 365 licenses in Okta based on the user application assignment type. Once administrators enable provisioning for the Microsoft Office 365 integration, administrators assign licenses either individually through the user profile or in bulk using Okta groups.

How are Microsoft Office 365 licenses assigned in Okta?
Assign Microsoft Office 365 licenses in Okta by configuring individual user profiles under the Assignments tab or by applying group-based license assignments to manage multiple users simultaneously.

Administrators can assign licenses to individual users.
When administrators assign users to the Microsoft Office 365 integration, they manage the licenses for each user individually. Open the user profile from the Assignments tab and change the licenses.
Administrators can assign licenses to groups of users.
When administrators assign the Microsoft Office 365 integration to an Okta group, all users in that group use the licenses assigned to that group. This flow allows administrators to assign a specific license or set of licenses to many users simultaneously, rather than updating them individually.
How are license conflicts avoided?
When administrators assign licenses through groups, some users might belong to multiple groups that assign different Microsoft Office 365 licenses. To avoid possible license conflicts, Okta provides two options:

- Although it is possible, do not assign the Office integration to application groups. It is best to create an Okta group for this purpose and use a group rule to populate it with the users from the app group.
