Does Okta Custom Authorization Server require a license and how to enable it?
Hi everyone,
We currently use a SAML app in Okta to connect to MongoDB Atlas (web).
Now we want to enable authentication & authorization for MongoDB Compass (desktop) using OAuth/OIDC.
Based on the documentation, it seems that a Custom Authorization Server is required for this setup.
Could you confirm if this is correct?
If yes:
- Is the Custom Authorization Server available by default, or does it require a specific Okta license/add-on (e.g., API Access Management)?
- How can we enable or configure a Custom Authorization Server in Okta?

The Custom Authorization Server feature is required.
If you currently have a paid account with us, please reach out to your Okta Account Executive to check your current SKUs/Licenses and discuss pricing if not already included in your current package. If needed, the Okta Support team can enable them for you.
The integrator free plan org, comes with API Access Management included for testing purposes.
If you don't currently have an account for us but are still interested in implementing this in a production environment, please reach out to our Okta Sales colleagues.
