IsaacB.81593 (Customer) asked a question.

Any experience with BYOT and RingCentral?

RingCentral "labs" offers an integration to enable configuration of a telephony hook from Okta to RC to satisfy "bring your own telephony (BYOT.)" Does anyone have experience with this feature? Is it reliable?

"Labs" come with the disclaimer "RingCentral Labs are experimental apps created by RingCentral's engineers. You can use these apps as is, or fork the code from GitHub to create an app that solves your businesses unique challenges. Please note that Labs apps do not come with a SLA or support outside of that provided via our community and in the forums."

Thanks

Hello @IsaacB.81593 (Customer) Thank you for posting on our Community page!

The RingCentral Labs BYOT integration is a fantastic tool, but we do not recommend for a production environment.

Okta’s Telephony Inline Hook sits directly in the critical path of your users' authentication. If a user tries to log in and the RingCentral Labs server is down, timing out, or undergoing unannounced maintenance, the SMS/Voice OTP will fail to send, and your users will be locked out of Okta. Because there is no SLA, no monitoring guarantees, and no official support, relying on this for a production environment is highly risky.

Thanks Paul. Is the lab its own environment, or is this just a tool for setting up the needed API access from Okta to RC?

Hello @IsaacB.81593 (Customer)  From what I can see it seems to be it's own environment for tests.
