BobM.32968 (Palo Alto Networks) asked a question.

loss of an Okta Verify entries after removing and readding Okta Verify

I ran into an issue on my Okta Verify where it would never authenticate my Slack through my Android Phone. After multiple solution attempts, I removed and readded Verify and it now works correctly with my main work applications including Slack. Once I removed it though, I had an additional entry being used for my lab which no longer appears. I am looking for some help on how to recover that free account back on my phone. Thanks

Hi @BobM.32968 (Palo Alto Networks) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Free trial/developer/integrator accounts are only recoverable via self-service provided that you have configured the appropriate policies and backup accounts.

You'll need to use an alternative option (ex. SMS, Google Authenticator, Yubikey etc) if configured, to sign into your Okta account and re-enroll the device.

If you have a different, paid account, you could try leveraging that one to open a support case to discuss the matter with our colleagues from the Okta Support Team and see if you can add the account under the umbrella of your current support plan.

    Regards.

How do I find out the status's of the accounts via self service? Is there any guidance on what buttons need to be set? TIA

Mihai, I appreciate your quick responses. When trying to scan and add additional account where the QR is presented, I get a response of Invalid setup link error. The QR code displays an Oktaverify address but unable to go any further. I am at a loss of any type of recovery process.

If you don't have access to the Admin Dashboard, the Users API would be the way to go. Beyond that, on the end-user side, there would be "Send Lockout Email to User" option that would indicate a status change, but that also needs to be enabled, otherwise the user would not be informed.

If the account is locked, it might not be auto-unlocked unless you've configured the option in the policies.

    Regards.
