Has anyone implemented QR code login with Okta
Has anyone implemented QR code login with Okta? If so, kindly share the details. I’m planning to use the following approach and wanted to check if anyone has done something similar:
- User enrolls their mobile using a custom mobile app bundled with Okta’s SDK.
- This helps to identify the user within the custom mobile app.
- A custom login page is created on the web app. When the user tries to log in, a QR code with a secret is generated.
- The secret is saved in a database, and the web app keeps checking the database to see if a user has scanned (claimed) the secret.
- When the user scans the QR code using the custom mobile app, it makes an API call to update the database with the user ID, claiming the secret.
- The web app retrieves the user ID from the database and contacts the Okta Authorization endpoint to get a session token.
Has anyone tried this or a similar method? Any insights or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

At this time Okta does not have this functionality. However you can add a Feature Request on our Idea section, for a chance that this functionality to be added in the future.
