JonasG.29911 (Customer) asked a question.

"Verify with password" when accessing Sharepoint from bookmarks after logging into Okta dashboard

I'm testing out a Conditional Policy for Office 365 where the session logs out after certain number of days.

After logging into Okta dashboard, I access Sharepoint from bookmarks.

If it hasn't reached the timeout, it'll proceed as usual. However, if it's already reached the timeout, I get the prompt to sign "verify with your password" page.

How can I use my MFA (i.e. authenticator app, Okta Verify, etc.) instead of password?

Thanks! I found the issue 🙂

There was another, similar policy, and it turns out that it was a legacy Office 365 policy that's no longer in use, and I edited that one.

I applied the same settings on the right policy and it works now.

    TY!

Hi @JonasG.29911 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Depending on the Authenticator types you have available in your org, you will need to configure an Authentication policy rule which requires "Possession factor" specifically. This should allow you to only use the MFA. Any other option would just offer "Password" as an alternative or a requirement in addition to the other authenticator.

    Example:

    AND

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!

I see there that the "global session policy" is mentioned as a condition. I recommend checking that as well to see how it comes into play during your login.

The system logs might also point towards what specific policy is being evaluated when you test it.

That being said, the Okta Community Questions forum isn't really meant for in-depth troubleshooting. If needed, I recommend opening a case and continuing the discussion with the assigned Technical Support Engineers. They'll be able to access additional tools and resources to help you get to the bottom of it.

        Regards.
