Hi,
I am trying to include senior leadership details in an end user profile. I have retrieved the direct manager's name from AD and stored it in a field (appuser.managerDn and used (substringBefore( substringAfter(appuser.managerDn, "="), ",")) to populate just the display name in a specific field) . Now I am looking to populate the manager's manager information into a custom attribute, Have anyone tried this before? Is it possible to achieve this using expression language?

Hi @c63bc (c63bc) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!
This not currently possible, as the expression language only leverages attributes from the specific user’s Okta/App profile depending on the direction of the mapping.
I’ve seen a couple of Feature Requests for the manager attribute but not for this particular use case, and I do see how this would be useful.
You can suggest this on the Okta Community page by going to the Community→ Ideas tab. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and it being implemented.
More details here.
That being said, we’ll leave this question open in case someone else in the Community found a different kind of solution for this.
If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.
Hope my answer helps!
