User16370330549592969269 (Customer Support Online Experience) asked a question.
Did you know that Okta Device Access brings the best of Okta's simple and secure authentication experience to the point of desktop login for Windows and macOS computers? It ensures local device data is protected by the same identity provider that protects access to data and applications in the cloud. Plus, it makes it easier for users to access all their work resources, including cloud apps, by simply signing in to their computers with their Okta credentials.
No matter where you are in your Okta Device Access deployment, Okta's resident experts are here to help. During the online event, they'll answer your questions about the benefits, technical requirements, roadmap, upcoming features, and more.

Questions for the product experts: Any plans for Chrome OS support?
I would be interested to understand this request as ChromeOS already accomplishes desktop login to your Google Workspace natively.
Hi @JohnC.52251 (Okta Product Acceleration Team) , my question was based on a pre-existing feature request submitted by one of our customers. Details below:
What challenges are you experiencing?
We have a number of Google ChromeOS devices which would like to use with Okta Device Access product. However, ChromeOS is not on the list of supported OSs yet.
What are you trying to achieve?
Trying to achieve SSO into Chrome OS devices with Okta Device Access
What is your current workaround?
no workaround
We have the same use case with Chromebooks. We need to authenticate users into ChromeOS with Okta device access.
Okta Device Access would not be required to authenticate a Chromebook. Chromebooks can be configured to login via SAML. Here is the Google documentation https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6060880?hl=en.
Great news!
Can't wait to see all the questions!
Could you talk about what the plans are around extending device access to utilize more of the Platform SSO features that apple has released? For example, utilizing groups to define the local administrator access, etc.
In the past there has been talk of support for enrolling Okta Verify and Desktop Password Sync at the ABM device enrollment screens. Is that still in the works? If so, is there any update on when that will be supported?
What plans do y'all have to enable full passwordless authentication (specifically on MacOS, but also on PC). Currently MacOS authentication (via desktop password sync/platform sso) is the main thing holding us back from enabling a true passwordless experience with Okta. The challenge here is that while re-using Okta passwords for desktop auth streamlines many things, it also creates a situation where we have to enforce a much stricter local password policy than if we weren't syncing it. Moving to a passwordless model is our end goal, but it just won't be possible until we have options to extend that to the desktop, so I'd love to learn more about y'all's plans and strategies there.
@ElleL.46628 (Built Technologies, Inc.) : We are currently working on updating the Password Sync functionality and the remaining PSSO features. The planned delivery for user account provisioning and group security roles is on track for the end of H1 CY 2024.
That's great to hear!
@ElleL.46628 (Built Technologies, Inc.) We currently do not have anything on the roadmap for ABM device enrollment. I will take this feedback to the team.
