Okta (OIE) forcing re authentication of end users before they can edit their individual profile from dashboard

I am facing an issue in Okta OIE instance where all users are forced to re authenticate before they can edit their individual profile from the okta dashboard —> settings page if they login to Okta using external IDP . Is there a way to stop the re authentication (maybe turn off any feature flag ) if the user has already signed in to Okta using external IDP ? I checked authentication policy, it is only set to password / IDP

    Hi Siddhartha Sinha ,

Prompt for MFA while editing the profile information from the end user dashboard is a security feature. Once a user enrolls in any MFA factor, subsequent attempts to modify their profile will prompt for MFA as a security measure.

    • Hi Jijo,

The users are not prompted for MFA. They are asked for reauthentication using password. If a user comes to Okta through IDP they will not have any password in Okta to reauthenticate.
