Okta Verify App - Blackberry BBF100-1 - Device enrolment

I have one user who is struggling with enrolling his device to be used for MFA through the Okta Verify app.

 

The user first stated that when he goes to the app, it shows nothing and is asking him to setup an account, as if he had just installed the app.

 

His profile in the admin console however is stating there is a device connected to his account, which is his Blackberry BBF100-1.

 

I cleared off his devices, so it was a fresh slate.

 

Go through the enrolment process again, the app succeeds to setup Verify, with no error messages. However the app straight away defaults back to showing that there is no accounts setup.

 

His profile in the admin console states the device has been setup.

 

However if trying to login, he cannot use Verify for MFA purposes, push notifications don't come through and there aren't any codes listen in the app as the app think the user still needs to setup an account.

 

He is the first person I have come across with this exact issue and set of events. he is also the first person I have seen to try and use a Blackberry BBF100-1, in our organisation obviously, not in general.

 

Any suggestions?

    I've looked into the model a bit and it seems that this particuler phone only supports Android 8.1 . 

    Unfortunately, support for that OS version is no longer available, it starts with Android 9 which will most likely start being fazed out next year as well. 

    I could not find any information on whether the phone supports updates to newer versions of Android, if it does I would recommend updating.
