Saved browser plugin password for application no longer works after AD change

Hi. I have an issue with one specific user who using the browser extension to login to some applications that do not support SAML or SSO for example. The issue is that it works fine until the user is requested to change their password via our AD policy, and after that, the saved password no longer works.

If the user goes into their apps and changes the password, it works fine - until the next password reset in AD. This is very odd, as the two aren't connected (from my understanding).

Anyone else seen this issue ?

Thanks

Hi @MarkC.78001 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

The only thing that I can think of is to check those specific app's sign-on setting.

If it's perhaps set to "Administrator sets username, password is the same as user's Okta password" that might explain why you are seeing this behavior.

    Sign on methods

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!
