ChrisZ.55196 (Customer) asked a question.

sp-metadata xml import?

An application provider with have integrated with Okta has contacted us and said that they will be updating their SSL certificate and they provided us with an updated sp-metadata XML file. They said we would need to update this on our end in Okta to ensure SSO continues to work.

As far as I know, I am only able to extract and download sp-metadata from a SAML application. How do import this metadata XML file?

    Hi Chris,

What I've seen in the past, most typically, the IdP provides the new metadata to the SP and so that way the certificate and other settings stays correct and up-to-date.

If the certificate is the only thing changed you could just copy it from the metadata file and use Okta's API to import it (I can't find an option for it in the Okta admin console). If you ever use Postman check out/install the "Apps" collection and look for "Certificate Operations" - "Update Application Certificate". See this page for the Okta Postman collections.

Jani, Thank you! You're a genius, I'm glad you found that. Now I just need to wait until the day they are ready to replace their cert.

    Thanks!
