Okta Browser Plugin behavior in a shared RDP environment

Good afternoon, all!

We're moving along our initial Okta deployment for a customer and the question came up about how the Okta Browser Plubin behaves in a shared RDP environment.

Users are limited to the Edge Chromioum browser except in rare, authorized circumstances. Many of our users log in to a shared RDP desktop, using FSLogix and local profiles to manage user data.

How would the Plugin work in this environment? Can we install the plugin as administrator and have the plugin applied to each user logging in to that RDP server?

Thanks!

Gregg

  • Hello @GreggH.37535 (ITX Tech Group)

I hope you are having a great day

In this scenario, if you install the plugin in the RDP this will keep the credentials of the users but due to the fact that multiple users will be using the same RDP it will offer to select the correct user from the list created from all the logging attempts.

unfortunately, there is no documentation for this behavior but if you need further assistance you can reach our support desk using the link below:

Please let us know if this was useful and allow you to solve your problem.

    Have a great day ahead

      Good morning, Henry!

Thanks for the info. As I understand it, the plugin will offer a list of users who have logged in to the RDP host, the user selects their own login and goes ahead with the SSO login to the target site. That should be fine; I just wasn’t sure if the plugin would be linked to the user’s profile stored in a virtual drive and mounted on login/dismounted on logout.

      Thanks!

      Gregg
