When admins click Edit in a user's profile, we were previously able to edit all fields. In the past day or two this field is not editable.
This is true whether there's a phone number in the field or not.
What would cause the field to suddenly become uneditable?

Hi Barry! This is Cezar with Okta support.
Most likely, the attribute that handles phone number was changed to ,,Read only,, from ,,Read-Write,, . To see what type this attribute is set as , please go to Directory->Profile Editor -> Next to Okta click Profile -> Search for the attribute phone number and click on the big information button next to it -> See if it's set to Read or Read-Write. Change it to read-write if needed.

Thank you for the tip! It appears that the field is populated by our soft phone software, Ring Central
What's strange though is that until about a week ago the field was editable, and this setting hasn't been touched since we first created the integration. What could have caused the change?

Ringcentral might have been changed to become a profile master. In that case, one or all the user's attributes(for users coming in from ringcentral) would be modified to read only. You can check the RC integration within Okta -> Provisioning -> To Okta -> see if checkbox for ,,allow ringcentral to master okta users,, is ticked.
