Okta Verify and Android 11

Having recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S20 to Android 11 I now have the newer notification system, which I mostly like. One problem, however, is that the Okta Verify notifications come up with the "brief" view, no matter what I seem to do.

While it works, I now have to click the notification to open it and then verify that it was me that attempted the login.

By contrast, the Microsoft Authenticator has no problems - I went into notifications and I disabled the new brief notifications for Microsoft Authenticator and if I log into something using that the authenticator comes up full screen like it used to.

Is anyone aware of this, or am I missing something? Anyone has a solution, etc?

Thanks!

  • Tim, sorry I didn't see this. Its not that the verify app doesn't work, its that the push notification comes up as a thin bar, which is the new android 11 notification style. I have to then click that to expand it and THEN click the accept button.

Conversely, the Microsoft Authenticator allows the option to use the old style notification, which is to say that when a notification comes in (and your phone is unlocked) the app takes over the whole screen allowing a one-press to accept.

This is how the Okta Verify app worked previous to android 11. So it appears the okta verify app needs updating to handle android 11 notification options.
