OKTA MFA in Outlook on a non persistent VDI desktop

Hi All,

We have OKTA MFA configured for Outlook 365 so that certain users have to use OKTA verify when they access outlook.

We have a new VMware Horizon environment with non-persistant instant clone desktops. The problem we have is that every time you log off and back on to the non persistant desktop it prompts for MFA via OKTA verify.

Does anyone know what paths within the user profile i would need to persist via UEM to retain the OKTA MFA authentication token when the user logs off and back on like it does on a persistant desktop

Thanks in advance for any help

  • Hi Martin,

In this case I believe you might be looking at an expected behavior since the Outlook session is terminated when the user logs off from the VM. In this case I'd suggest reaching out to Microsoft to see how the session lifetime can be extended or as a workaround, modify the Office app sign on policy in Okta to prompt the user for MFA only once or at every few days.

    Thank You,
