94xxm (94xxm) asked a question.

Why does Okta register admins to okta community (help center) without consent and spams with weekly digests?

After registration to Okta and being assigned admin role I received "Welcome to the Okta Community" mailing. Following that I receive unwanted and UNSOLICITED weekly digest.

There is no unsubscribe in footer - "You're receiving Okta Help Center emails. To change or turn off email notifications, Log in to Okta Help Center."

And this approach is flawed:

* log in requires acceptance of terms which I don't want or need to accept;

[but putting this aside and logging in]

* deselecting email notifications in email preferences doesn't stop those;

* there is no way to delete this account (which was instantiated without user's consent).

This way away from what I expect from privacy conscious company.

    Hi there,

    This is Marius with Okta support. If these steps for unsubscribing from the Community notifications didn't work and you're still receiving Community emails, you can either send an email to community@okta.com asking to be removed, or you can create a ticket with Okta support so we can look into this a bit deeper and stop the emails from coming through.

    Thank you,

    Marius Dinu

      I just wanted to reply to this and say this has been a terrible user experience for me. I've been trying for weeks to unsubscribe to 'Weekly Digest' emails I've been getting. Only after following the second step (changing preferences for Community Groups) did I find I have been automatically added to the "Community Central" group when I joined and have to manually remove the weekly digest emails for this group.

      Okta needs a centralized view for managing / unsubscribing from such emails. Otherwise it's very difficult for a new user to understand where these emails are coming from.
