Automate Changes in AD to Okta

We use Active Directory to Control Groups & Application assignment in Okta our current workflow is detailed below:-

1.Add user to group in Active Directory

2.Go to Okta directory Integrations

3.Click on Import

I would like to only complete the first step and then have the import complete automatically. I have looked at the scheduled import feature - but I am unsure if this is the best way forward?

In addition to scheduled imports, if you delegate authentication to Active Directory, consider enabling just-in-time provisioning in your domain integration settings. With JIT enabled, whenever a user signs into Okta, the AD agent will perform a real-time sync with the user's AD account, immediately importing the new group membership that you just added him to. It eliminates the gaps between those scheduled imports and gives users nearly real-time access to new app integrations.

See the settings tab, there is schedule Import. Set the frequency you prefer

Is there a way to do this using the API?

Setting up schedule import is one time job and API would not be comfortable.
