normally, when i log into Okta, i get a notification on my iPhone. it is awesome, because i can just put my thumb on the fingerprint reader, force-touch to approve, and i am done. i don't have to open any apps on my phone. this worked for years with my iPhone 6s Plus.
however, i switched to an iPhone 7. i had to get my company's IT department to reset my MFA, of course. My MFA still works, but the difference is that the Okta Verify app does not do notifications anymore. i made sure that notifications were turned on in my iPhone. my DnD is not on. i get notifications from other apps. no banners, no sounds, no locked screen notifications, no vibrations, just nothing. i have to open the Okta Verify app, then wait a second, then my approval/denial appears. the approval works.
i would love the old behavior to come back. but i cannot find any settings for Okta Verify.
additional info:
it is as if i have a different Okta Verify app. but it should be the same, because my iPhone 7 is a copy of the backed up version of my iPhone 6s Plus. i say they appear different because they literally appear different, totally different user interface. it's very confusing. i don't care about the look though, i just want my notifications to come back.

From the sounds of it, this seems to be device related - I'd recommend, if possible, you test this on a different device to confirm if you are seeing the same behavior.
That said, it is possible that one of the security updates for the Okta Verify application may be responsible for this change in behavior (I know that the change in graphical design you mentioned is a result of the newer updates) but if so, I could not find any: https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/ReleaseNotes/okta-verify-release-notes.htm
If this behavior persists across multiple devices, I recommend opening a case with Okta Support directly, to further investigate what could cause this behavior change - if it is an issue with the device, the user account or expected behavior.
