Hi everyone,
I have a question about mapping multiple OKTA users on our OKTA environment for Tableau app.
Right now, I have many users (about 100+) with only firstname, lastname, and email field filled in for each users (i.e. the bare minimum).
I am trying to integrate our OKTA with our Tableau environment, but unfortunately on OKTA, the user's username and their Tableau username has no similarity whatsoever.
For example, we have John Doe on OKTA with "jdoe@company.com", but on the Tableau app itself, his username is "username1"; another example would be Jane Doe with "janedoe@company2.com" with Tableau username "user2".
Since there is no similarity whatsoever, I could not use custom expression under the app's application username format.
That being said, I do have a CSV file containing a mapping between their OKTA username and their existing Tableau username. However, I don't see anywhere on the app page on OKTA where I can use something like this. Is this a possible thing to do, if I cannot delete the users?
I imagine I could create a new field for the user profile and update each user to contain the Tableau username that field and then use custom expression to capture that information, but I was wondering if that's the only way to go about this or if there's a better way to do this.
Apologies if I put this under the wrong category
Regards,
David
