    Hi Balaji

     

    I'm afraid it's not been built to run on that type of OS and no copying the binaries is unlikely to work. The only possible way might be to run it as a virtual machine from your laptop using something like VMWare or Virtualbox on one of the supported OS's mentioned in the above link.

    I'm afraid the Okta On-Premise Provisioning Agent is not suitable for Windows 10 operating system.  From the Install and configuration guide notes they state:

     

    On-Prem Provisioning Agent: A lightweight agent that runs on Linux (CentOS or RHEL) or Windows (x86/x64) server and sits behind a firewall. The On-Prem Provisioning Agent gets provisioning instructions from Okta and sends SCIM messages to the appropriate SCIM endpoint or connector.

    Thanks for the response Kevin, I've two questions here,

    1. So is it not possible for me to install the Okta On-Premise Provisioning Agent in my client machine(Any alternative setup for installing the Okta On-Premise Provisioning Agent service)? My machine is Windows10 Pro x64 -based processor.

    2. Is there any workaround to do it(To copy some binaries and run it)? since I have only one machine which has the above mentioned Operating system for testing?

    No, there was no solution to install the agent in Windows 10 since Okta does not provide support to Windows 10 yet. The alternative is install a Virtual machine in Windows 10 and from the VM install a previous version of windows and use the Okta agent from there... This was my alternative to solve the issue.

    Are there any near term plans to support Okta On-Premise Provisioning Agent on Windows 10 clients?  We already use Okta for a business application provided by a third-party and would like to deploy Okta for RDP access initially without involving our in house server which runs Windows Server 2016. It appears that at least one competitor offers this (Duo), but as we already use Okta it would be great to be able to stay with the same 2FA provider.

    I'd like to see support for Windows 10 in the On-Premise Agent as well. I use my own laptop for development/testing which makes it a whole lot more manageable than requiring VMs and whatnot.

     

    It's especially frustrating since I used to be able to do this kind of testing on my laptop previously

    The Okta Agents are all designed to run on Server OS. 

    You can suggest other Operating Systems as a Feature Enhancement. On the Community page, Go to Product→ Ideas→Post Idea. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members of the community, therefore making it much easier for the engineering team to understand the priorities that you have for feature requests.
