Why is Multifactor Authentication prompting users often (sometimes several times in one day) even though it is set to "once a month"?
Many users are being prompted for MFA more than once in any given day even after checking the "remember me" box. I can't say this is happening to all users so we have started a log. It deosn't happen too often to  me. Can someone explain what may be the cause of this? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rocky,

The timing is based on the presense of a cookie value.

Possible causes for the symptoms you describe:
    • Operating in an environment without persistence (incongnito mode)
    • Clearing cookies
    • Operating in different browsers
     Hope that helps,

    -Matt

  • Hey Rocky

This issue might be best worked through the support channel but here are some questions to think about...

Is your MFA requirement set at an application level, Okta login or both?

Do your users switch between browsers when logging into Okta?

Do cookies get cleared from your browser upon closure?

Are there on/off network policies in play? MFA groups?

There are a few different contributing factors that can place you in this sort of a scenario. If you get stuck, please reach out to Support and we'd be happy to assist.
