Overview

The group used for Group Push to an application is failing with the error message:

Unable to update Group Push mapping target App group (GroupName). Error while updating user group membership for (GroupName) Internal Server Error. Errors reported by remote server:

Error

Applies To
  • Group Push
  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • Error reported by the remote server
Cause

When the error presented appears, verify if the remote server reports a message that may lead to the possible cause of the issue. The remote server is not returning any error message based on the above error.

Solution

To resolve this issue, please verify the following:

  1. All users assigned to the group used for Group Push are also assigned to the integration, are fully provisioned, and there are no provisioning or assignment errors on any of the users.
  2. No changes to the group were made on the Application side, which may cause sync issues. All changes should come through Okta directly.
  3. If all of the above were verified and confirmed, navigate to the affected group, click the Error button drop-down > Unlink pushed group > Leave group in the target app, then reassign the group to be pushed to the application side.
  4. If the issue still reoccurs, navigate to the affected group, click on the  Error button drop-down > Unlink pushed group > Delete the group in the target app (recommended) > Re-add the group.

NOTE: If the issue persists after following the above steps, please contact the Admin or Customer Support for the Remote Server for further troubleshooting of the internal server error.
