Overview

A change in how Slack handles the title attribute prevents updates from Okta, requiring administrators to toggle the data source settings in the Slack application. The title attribute fails to update in Slack despite being mapped correctly in Okta.

Cause

A change in how the Slack application handles the title attribute prevents the attribute from updating correctly.

Solution

How is the title attribute update issue resolved in Slack?

Toggle the data source for the title attribute from System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) to user-edited and back to SCIM in the Slack Admin dashboard.

  1. Sign in to the Slack Admin dashboard.
  2. Scroll down to Profiles.
  3. Change Data Source to User-Edited.
  4. Select Save Changes, and then select Publish Changes.
  5. Change the Data Source back to SCIM.
  6. Select Save Changes, and then select Publish Changes.
