Can a Group Push By Rule Contain More than 100 Okta Groups
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview
Group Push is using existing Okta groups and their memberships to provisioning-enabled, third-party applications. Okta then sources these memberships. Group Push adds groups to third-party apps, but it does not create groups in Okta.
Applies To
  • Group Push by rule
Solution

Groups are pushed to applications using one of the following two methods:

  • By name: An Okta application administrator selects groups from Okta to be created and updated in the target app.

    • The number of groups that can be added when using Pushed Groups By name is unlimited.

  • By rule: Use a string that is required in the group name, or use both the group name and description to push many groups at once. The group Push by rule is not available for AD integrations.

    • When adding the Pushed Groups By rule, no more than 100 groups can match the filter; otherwise, the request will fail.
      • Effectively Pushed Groups By rule have a limit of no more than 100 groups per rule. This limit may change in the future.

pushed groups
It is not possible to specify an expression (regex) that will add all the Okta groups to a group push.

Using the same Okta group for assignments and group push should be avoided. To maintain consistent group membership between Okta and the downstream app, a separate group must be created and configured to push groups to the target app.
