Hi,
I want to set a custom temporary password for new hires versus generating a new one every time. Whats the best way todo this?

The short answer is no. You cannot set a static, custom temporary password strictly through the native Okta SCIM app configuration interface.
This is because Passwords aren't standard attributes in Okta's backend, a password isn't treated like a standard profile text field (such as Department or Title). It is a protected credential object.
You might be able to achieve this though Workflows. This allows you to automate the custom password assignment while guaranteeing the user is forced to reset it immediately.
