KathyT.73511 (Anthropic Identity) asked a question.

Can we set up an Authentication policy for just one device?

We would like to set up an Authentication policy for a shared conference room computer, but we only want it to be for that device.

What we've tried:

  • We can't restrict based on IP because it shares an IP with several other computers.
  • The Device Assurance Policy won't allow us to narrow it down enough.
  • We thought about restricting it to a specific user (set up specifically for this conference room) but our users will need to access their own drives and files.

  • Hi @KathyT.73511 (Anthropic Identity) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Unfortunately, we don't currently support the specific device use case.

I've also been looking through the feature requests and I'm surprised we don't already have requests for this.

You can suggest it as a Feature Enhancement on the Okta Community page by going to the Community Ideas tab. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and it being implemented.

    More details here.

    Regards.
