IshaA.40852 (Customer) asked a question.
Hi, I am experiencing an issue where users with email addresses ending in less common domains like @institute.co.uk or @research.ac.uk are unable to register or log in via our Okta setup.
However, users with personal email domains like @gmail.com or @hotmail.com can register and log in without any problems.
Examples:
- User with john.doe@institute.co.uk → Registration fails.
- User with jane.doe@gmail.com → Registration successful.
Could you please advise:
- What might be causing this domain-specific issue?
- Are there any domain restrictions or configuration settings we should check?
Thanks in advance for your help! Hoping to get this resolved

Hello @IshaA.40852 (Customer) , thank you for contacting Okta Community.
The .co.uk domains are likely not the culprit, but at the same time, it's not clear what is causing the issue based on the information you provided. It could be related to the username format or an attribute in the profile editor. I recommend that you open a Support ticket (Customer Support Account ID number required) so one of our engineers can analyze it and provide in-depth troubleshooting. You could also provide more details in a ticket that shouldn’t be given here, as this is a public space.
Please note that opening a support ticket is a feature available only to paid accounts. If you do not have a paid account, but are interested in upgrading, you can contact our Sales team.
Regards.
