ScottC.38230 (Customer) asked a question.

Set up a Call to Action (CTA) message on SMS Opt-In?

I've opened a ticket but I figured I would ask here as well in case somebody else has dealt with it.

Starting on the 1st of February 2025, in the USA, all outgoing "machine to user" SMS messages must be sent from a valid "10DLC" (10-digit long code). However, to validate the 10DLC "Campaign" you need to offer your users a CTA (Call to Action) where you give them a spiel about how they are opting in and it might create charges/etc. This makes sense for commercial uses but they are enforced even for internal MFA usage.

I can't seem to find a way to customize the Set up Phone authentication dialog boxes to include this information.

Is there a way to set this up?

Has your company dealt with this? Did you reach a resolution with your telephony partner?

Many thanks

-S

Hello @ScottC.38230 (Customer) , thank you for contacting Okta Community.

If you have an open ticket, we recommend that you follow up on it. You can also share more details on your ticket (that shouldn't be shared here) and work closely with one of our engineers to find the best solution.

That being said, I think the following articles could prove useful:

Approaches to keep sending OTP over SMS... for now - an article from our developer team; you can contact them on the devforum.okta.com for more details

Customize an SMS message - this would impact the content of all SMS messages sent to end users, so you would need to edit the message twice (to add the additional information and later, to remove it)

If you are interested in more complex custom deployments and creative solutions, consider our Professional Services team.

    Regards.
