MFA Factor Sequencing in the UI widget

There are four factos configured for Multifactor. On Screen they appear in a sequence as follows

  • Okta
  • Google
  • SMS
  • Voice

 

I would like this sequence to be changed to following

  • SMS
  • Voice
  • Okta
  • Google

As per this Okta documentation https://help.okta.com/en-us/content/topics/security/mfa-factor-sequencing.htm*DefineSignOnPolicies I should be able to configure that in admin console but I don't screen shown in the documentation if I follow the instructions.

 

Can someone please provide help on this?

    Hi @JavedA.00238 (Customer)​ , thank you for contacting Okta Community.

     

    The article you linked has been removed. I believe it may have been similar to MFA Factor Sequencing. The sequencing of MFA factors is no longer available, and the article I mentioned has been kept only for legacy activations.

     

    The sequencing does not affect the functionality of the factors. However, if you have a paid account and would like this feature to be reintroduced, you can suggest it on the Okta Community page by going to the Community→ Ideas tab.

    Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted on and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and implemented.

      So basically, requirement is to make more frequently used MFA factor as first option. What is default ordering of factors based on?

       

      We are Okta Customer. Can Okta re-enable MFA Factor Sequencing for existing customer?

       

      So I assume the only other option is to build custom UI if Okta console doesn't workout.

        Hi @JavedA.00238 (Customer)​ , the order in which the factors are set up (in the org, not for a person) is the order in which they will appear.

         

        You may want to discuss the possibility of re-enabling the MFA Factor Sequencing feature with your Customer Success Manager or Account Executive. I believe they would have more details about this.

        Hi Diana, I was able to get hold of our Customer Success Manager and going to raise support ticket for this.
