BillS.23320 (Customer) asked a question.

Saml2.0 Application Sign on URL changes

I have a few Saml2.0 applications setup. I recently noticed that the "Sign on URL" under the signon page will change from time to time. Looks like the link has the name of the name of the application in the path followed by a number that increments. Does anyone know what causes that URL to change? Is it changes in Application settings? Updating the Cert? Whenever Okta feels like it?

Thanks

Hello @BillS.23320 (Customer) Thank you for posting on our Community page!

Each application you create in Okta will have a unique URL, as you mentioned the link will contain the application name and a unique ID which will be different for each application that you create. The number will be similar but ultimately different.

Thank you for reaching out to our Community and have a great day!

Thank you for your response. What I am noticing is that the "Sign on URL" changes. For example below is something that I have seen for 1 Saml application. Lets say the app name is myApp:

      https://my_okta_url.com/app/my_app_6/[some unique id]/sso/saml

      at some point changed to:

      https://my_okta_url.com/app/my_app_7/[some different unique id]/sso/saml

The question I am trying to ask is, what caused that sign in url change for my application?

Hello @BillS.23320 (Customer)  The only way the information mentioned would change is if there is a different application. The first link would be one app and the second one would a different application. Once an application is created, the links are static and tehy do not change.
