Configure a Custom SAML Attribute Statement with a OIN app

I'm trying to follow the documentation https://support.okta.com/help/s/article/Skipping-assertion-attributes-because-of-schema-mismatch?language=en_US to assign custom SAML attributes, however I'm only able to do this if I go the route of configuring a custom SAML app (https://support.okta.com/help/s/article/How-To-Configure-A-Custom-SAML-App) v.s. using an application directly through the catalog. Is this feature only supported for custom SAML apps?

Hi @User17190045623322751826 (Customer) , thank you for reaching out to Okta Community.

For the OIN apps, the SAML settings are on the Sign On tab. The custom attributes are initially hidden. You need to click Edit for the SAML section to see the custom attributes option (see the attached screenshot). Screenshot 2024-06-22 at 01.47.15Please let me know if the option still won’t display for you.

    Regards.

  • Much appreciate the prompt response! I think I went to the same edit screen, but curiously I'm not able to see the section for "Attributes", anything else I might need to configure to make this available?

Some other details - I'm testing this on an oktapreview instance (not sure if that might affect the settings available). The OIN app is "Coda" (I'm a developer there).

    Thanks again for the help!

    Hi @User17190045623322751826 (Customer) ,

Since you provided the name of the app, I was able to replicate the integration in a test org and I do see the feature there. It may be possible that you are missing a feature flag for your developer org.

If you have a paid account, you may want to open a ticket with the Support team. They will have access to more resources and be able to provide in-depth troubleshooting as well.

    Regards.
