Bypass OKTA login MFA step through api request

Looking for an option to bypass the "MFA step" while user tries to login.

For Example: Whenever an user is not able to access the OKTA MFA, need an option to bypass the MFA like generating a temporary passcode for the user via API.

In AZURE there is an option "Temporary Access Pass (TAP)" to bypass the user login with MFA, after verifying the user. Searching for similar option in OKTA to generate temporary passcode for the user login.

Kindly suggest a way to address it.

Hi @User17168809608648282973 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

    This is not currently available.

You can either set up additional Authenticators as fallback in case one is not available or set up a new authentication policy which does not require MFA and assign it to a group dedicated for this type of situations where you would add/remove the user as needed.

You can suggest a bypass MFA functionality as a Feature Enhancement on the Okta Community page by going to the Community Ideas tab. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and it being implemented.

    More details here.

    Hope my answer helps!
