lvkkc (lvkkc) asked a question.
Our company hasn't used Okta in a few years and we no longer have an account. Recently we needed to install a Chrome extension for our users but were unable to. Upon looking into this, it appears that Chrome updates are disabled by the "admin" which in this case is the Okta Chrome extension. Since the Okta extension is managing the browser, there is no apparent way for us to remove it without logging into our Okta Admin account (which we no longer have). Any insight on how to remove the extension would be very much appreciated!

Hello @lvkkc (lvkkc) Thank you for posting on our Community page!
If Chrome are disabled by admin this indicated that updated and add-on's are managed by your IT department and not by Okta. Okta does not have the ability to control the browser updates and what add-on's are added or removed.
I would recommend to reach out to your internal IT team for additional assistance on this matter.
Thank you for reaching out to our Community and have a great day!

Hi @nfmez (nfmez),
I can confirm that the Okta Chrome extension is what has admin privileges over the browser. When we go into the Chrome update page it says "Chrome updates are disabled by admin" and if we click on that link it shows the Okta extension is what is controlling that.
We tried reaching out to Google Suite support to see if there was any way we could remove the extension from our side, but they advised the issue was with Okta and they didn't have the ability to remove it from our end.
Hello @lvkkc (lvkkc) Please see article below which provides directions to remove the Okta plugin :

Hi @Paul S. (Okta, Inc.)
I followed those steps and there is no template in the Group Policy Editor.
Is there any other steps that we can take to remove the Chrome extension>
Thanks
