ni1vb (ni1vb) asked a question.

Automation for deactivating inactive users doesn't perform action.

Hello,

We have a problem with automation.

We are testing on our sandbox tenant how the automation works because we'd like to deactivate/delete customers in case of inactivity.

  • I created 2 days ago a test group and I put a test user inside
  • then I set an automation for deactivating users members of the group who were inactive for at least 1 day, as you can see in the screenshot.
  • I activated the automation to run 2 mins after the configuration
  • Nothing happened and the user was still Active

I ve tried in both ways, with one time process or a daily process, waiting for the next day at configured time, but same result.

Any idea how to solve?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

    Hi, @ni1vb (ni1vb)

Thank you for posting on our Community page!

The user inactivity login is based on when the user last logged into Okta.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.

Yes, but it doesn't work. Do you mean the customer should have logged in at least once, otherwise it won't work?

      Hi, @ni1vb (ni1vb)

Thank you for posting on our Community page!

That’s the thing, the user needs to be active first in order to be deactivated.

I suggest opening a case with Support so they can take a more in depth look at the use case.

Hi again, just to be clear: the user is active on Okta but never logged in

      • User16594883467582706479 (Customer Support Online Experience)

Yes, I'm sorry I was not clearer: the user needs to have been logged in so a lastLogin date is attributed to them.

Got it, thanks. I will try again in the next days and I ll let you know.

Hi @User16594883467582706479 (Customer Support Online Experience) ,

I tried to login and then setup an automation for deleting the inactive user after 1 day and it worked.

Now I'm wondering: is there a way to delete also users who were created N days ago BUT never logged in?

Thanks a lot again for your help
