Delete account that I no longer have access to; I left that employer years ago

I used okta years ago because the company that I worked for required it. I haven't had access to that email address in a long time. I just want to delete this account. Okta shows up in so many places that I require access to (i.e. smartsheet). I can't get into smartsheet without going through Okata. Again, I have no access to that account and couldn't remember the password even if my life depended on it. There does not seem to be a way to delete an Okta account without logging into okta. I can't do that. This is kind of maddening. I just want to delete the account. How do I do that without being inside okta?

  • Hi @6adhb (6adhb) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Unfortunately, this would be the purview on the particular application vendors.

Once you left the company, the assumption is that they remove/deleted/unfederated your particular account, but this would not necessarily mean that they wiped your devices.

Some apps save the account info as default for convenience without validating if they are still active or not.

I recommend reaching out to the specific vendors Support resource to check what options you have to clear the old account from the apps.

For example, perhaps the following will help you with Smartsheet: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/518528-logging-in-and-out

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!
