Customization-only admin gets 403 error when viewing email previews

Hello - I tried setting up a customization-only admin (for the sole purpose of editing brand emails). They're able to get in and edit, but whenever they try to view the previews for their emails, they get a 403 access forbidden error.

 

Is there any way to let them use previews w/o having to give them a higher level of admin access? Or is this just a bug?

 

(Previews *do* show up for me, but I'm a super admin).

    Hi @pg0fr (pg0fr)​ , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community! 

     

    I ran some tests and confirmed that the customization permissions are not enough for the admin to be able to see the Previews, which seems counter-intuitive. 

    I recommend opening a case with my colleagues from the Support team to review the matter and confirm with the internal Product team if this is a bug or expected or maybe an oversight when designing the permissions.  

    In the meantime, as a workaround I’ve confirmed that combining it with the “Read-only Admin” role would allow you to see the email template previews, while keeping the permissions to a minimum. I’ll leave it to you to decide if the “Read-only Admin” permission is perhaps too much access for your requirements.

    so what's the custom permissions that you set for this admin?

    The ability to "manage customizations" and nothing else. The resource set is set to the brand I want the user to be able to edit.
