Admin Session Time Out Changes Decrease

Noticed session time out for admins have been decreased dramatically to 15 minutes, is this an editable rule or is it the new norm for Okta admins?

    @GabrielN.49140 (Customer)​ I saw your comment and want to address your concerns. First, we’ve heard your feedback and have rolled back this change. This will restore your organization’s session lifetime and idle behavior to what it was previously.

     

    Please note that Okta does strongly feel that these new defaults will further enhance the security of all customers and we will be looking to roll this out again in the near future. We will be sending a communication to all customers in advance of that happening. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused.

     

    Finally, I appreciate you bringing your feedback here to the Okta Community and hope you will visit us again with any comments or questions. Thank you.

    +1 - I live in Okta and have had to re-login many times today. Unacceptable.

    Response from Okta support earlier…

     

    • In order to better secure your tenant, Okta has deployed a new security enhancement that changes the session lifetime for admins. The idle session has a maximum lifetime of 15 minutes and the maximum session lifetime is 12 hours.This change has not been yet communicated, I apologise, I currently do not have an answer for why, hopefully our communication team will release a statement soon.

    This is only for the Admin Dashboard, however, when an admin logs into the admin dashboard, and he is logged of due to the idle time, he will also be logged out from his end-user dashboard side.

     

    This is stupid… It should be an org level decision/policy, not Okta’s whim.
