w6ykp (w6ykp) asked a question.

Admin Account Locked Out after enabling MFA

I enabled MFA (by policy) for a specific user and enrolled that user in MFA.

I then added an MFA policy to the Authentication for my Okta instance.

My admin user was never included in the MFA group and, thus, wasn't enrolled.

Now my admin user is locked out of my OKTA instance. How do I get it unlocked?

The admin user is a fictitious email account and I have email MFA set up, so I can't open it even if I enrolled it somehow in MFA

I contacted support and they were able to temporarily unlock the account which allowed me to back out my changes
