9oovq (9oovq) asked a question.

About sizing the server on which the Okta AD Agent is installed

Hi

What is the sizing (CPU and RAM) of the server where Okta AD Agent will be installed ?

The documentation states that "The server should have at least 2CPUs and a minumum of 8GB RAM." but i would like to know how much to estimate. (Is 2CPUs and 8GB RAM enough ?)

We are assuming 10,000 users to be linked from AD to Okta.

Also, if you have any references or websites, we would appreciaste it if you could link us to them.

Thank you in advance.

Additional note

The above is performed by OIE, not OCE

Hi! Thanks for reaching out to the community.

Please see below for these requirements as defined by Okta

    Active Directory Integration Prerequisites

To your second question, Okta does specify the below on that same link:

    • High availability — To ensure high availability and redundancy, install the agent on two or more computers.
    • Number of agents — If there are 30K or more users, deploy a minimum of 3 AD agents.

As for the CPU and RAM requirements, that number is simply the minimum. For optimal performance, you would likely want to provide a server with a more robust configuration.

I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks!

If you are asking for capacity planning for the AD Agents, I would certainly restate Okta's recommendation:

If there are 30K or more users, deploy a minimum of 3 AD agents && Have at least two AD agent servers up and running.

And finally, Plan for High Availability & Disaster Recovery

    Does that help? Thanks!
