78ezi (78ezi) asked a question.
I am implementing ASA for our servers and had a few questions on the windows and linux username fields. By default Okta drops the domain, and replaces '.' with '_', along with truncating and appending numbers if needed.
Is there any risk with changing the mapping to exactly match the windows username? Our identity provider is Active Directory and all servers already have user profiles for the IT admins windows usernames, which i was hoping to retain access to.
For some clarification, some locations follow a "<first initial><last name>" username format, and others follow a "<first name>.<last name>" format so some windows accounts will match the ASA "windowsUsername" after the transformation and some will not.

Hi @78ezi (78ezi) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!
I checked with some of my colleagues on the ASA side and they said you can change the mapping as needed.
There is mention of username customization here:
https://help.okta.com/asa/en-us/Content/Topics/Adv_Server_Access/docs/setup/configure-scim.htm
And if you need help with the expression language, you can find out more about it here:
https://developer.okta.com/docs/reference/okta-expression-language/
If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.
Hope my answer helps!
