Are any changes to a OIN app required to enable additional application username format support?

We currently have a OIN app allowing inbound SSO into our app via Okta. At the moment we only support "email" as the Application username format. However, we are going to extend this so we can support the Okta username. I was just wondering, is there anything we would need to do to our OIN app to enable this?

Hi @User15906439493008964767 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Typically, the Okta side of the implementations (OIN or custom) don't come with the username format hardcoded. It can alway be configured from the Okta Dashboard Applications <AppName> Sign on tab to match the downstream requirements.

If you are the owner and are considering making additional changes to the app listed in the OIN, you will need to go through the oinmanager.om site to submit a new version of the app for review.

  • Thank you @Mihai N. (Okta, Inc.) for confirming this. It doesn't sound like any changes to our app are required since we do have the Okta username option available on the sign on app as you described. We just need to add the support on our side.
