Hi team, we are have been acquired and in the process of changing HR systems from BambooHR to SuccessFactors.
Currently, we source our Okta profiles from BambooHR and provision all access from there. I have been reading about the SuccessFactors integration for Okta and it seems straightforward enough and will provide the functionality to import and create new user accounts in Okta from SuccessFactors. I do have a few questions that I have not been able to find the answer to yet:
- Can we choose to only import users to Okta based on the value of a field in SuccessFactors?
- If this is possible, can it be configured on a custom field in SuccessFactors or does it need to be one of the fields listed here? https://help.okta.com/oie/en-us/Content/Topics/Provisioning/sfec/sfec-entities-attributes.htm
- Additionally, is there documentation on where or how is this configured?
- We use a different email domain for our primary email address in Okta and SuccessFactors. Is it possible to transform the primary email address from SuccessFactors to Okta when importing the specified users to Okta?

Hi @ChrisP.63905 (Customer),
Thank you for posting on the Okta community page!
I have done some research regarding your inquiries and unfortunately it seems that there isn't an option on Okta's side where you can only import users based on the value of a field in SuccessFactors, but I would suggest to also check on the application side to see if they have any functionality that only sends certain users data through API (based on a criteria) when performing an import into Okta. When performing an import into Okta, the users are updated/created based on the information sent by the SP through APIs.
The attributes listed in the documentation provided by you, are the ones that are currently supported to be configured between Okta and the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central.
For the 3rd question, I have managed to find a couple of links that provide information about how to configure provisioning for SuccessFactors and that contains additional information about how provisioning works for this specific app:
Additionally, you should be able to update the primary email address in Okta after performing an import based on the mappings created for this specific integration. In order to update an existing user, the mapping for the primary email address should be set to Create and Update.
My recommendation regarding this change, would be to test the configuration on a preview environment to make sure that the users in the production tenant will not be affected and that no other issues will appear since this way you can make sure that the transition will go smoothly.
